History

CENTRAL FLORIDA COLLEGE

Central Florida College, Winter Park, was founded in 1985 under the name of Career Training Institute. Original course offerings included Medical Assisting, Travel and Tourism, and Computer Programming. Cosmetology and Barber Styling were later added. The Orlando campus was first located in downtown Leesburg, Florida, where it offered Barber Styling, Cosmetology, and Medical Assisting beginning in 1984. Career Training Institute, all locations, became branch campuses of the Ohio State College of Barber Styling, Toledo, in 1988.

In November, 1990, Career Training Institute, Orlando, Inc., Roger Bradley, President, Nancy Bradley, Secretary-Treasurer, purchased the Ohio State College of Barber Styling, Toledo, Ohio and its branches, Career Training Institute, Orlando, Florida, and Career Training Institute, Leesburg, Florida, from the Ohio State Barber Career Training Institute Corporation. The Orlando campus moved to 3326 Edgewater Drive, Orlando, in March 1994 and in July 2003 moved to 1573 W. Fairbanks Ave, Winter Park, Florida. The Winter Park campus was officially designated as the main school in 1996 and the Ohio State College of Barber Styling closed. The name of Career Training Institute was officially changed to Central Florida College in February 2003 for the main school.

In December 2007, Education Affiliates Inc. purchased Central Florida College and its branches.

Career Training Institute is a branch campus of the main school and is located at 3318 Edgewater Drive, Orlando, Florida 32804. It offers professional education in specific fields within the Cosmetology industry. This school moved from Leesburg to Apopka in 1996 and to its present Orlando location in 2004.

Central Florida College, 6565 Ulmerton Road, Largo, Florida 33771 was designated a branch campus in March 2005 at the original location in St. Petersburg, Florida. The branch campus offers programs in allied health, business, criminal justice and cosmetology.
